All our fittings & buckles have been gold or silver plated (depending on the product) and have a reinforced lacquer to maintain the plating for a long time. However, it is normal for the plating to disappear over time due to usage and friction of the product as well as other conditions that can alter the plating such as the pH of each person's skin.
